The Women’s Sports Foundation created the International Women’s Sports Hall of Fame in 1980 to recognize women athletes and coaches who have made history in women’s sports. The Hall of Fame Selection Committee is comprised of journalists, historians and current Hall of Fame members, and it chooses new members based on achievements, breakthroughs, innovative style and an ongoing commitment to women’s sports.
