Croquet
You're dressed in your finest gown, preparing for the evening ahead. Attending a ball? Nope. Try hitting a ball! Backyard croquet has been notorious for the perfect complement of family and friend gatherings, garden parties and just about any social event. Although it has been around since the mid-19th century, when the English women played in dresses, Americans popularized the game in the 1970s. Croquet calls for delicate, physical skills and a tactical way of thinking. It is an outdoor lawn game in which players use mallets (a stick with two hammer head figures on each end) to strike balls through arch-like figures called wickets. Points are scored by hitting the ball through the wickets, throughout a required course. Croquet can be the entertainment of your evening party, or people can compete to qualify for croquet events worldwide.
