Grant Opportunities




If you are a nonprofit there is a strong possibility that your organization or program could qualify for a grant. Here is a small compilation of the wide array of grants that focus on youth sports and fitness.

These are some of the local grant making organizations and their deadlines:

·   Atlanta Falcons Youth Foundation- Grants available in a few categories including organizations that have football and cheerleading programs, other sport programs such as basketball or dance, education of healthy lifestyles, and development or improvement of fields. Deadline is usually in the spring.

·   Atlanta Braves Foundation- Grants for community organizations within the Metro Atlanta area. Deadline generally in the summer.

·   Atlanta Hawks Foundation- Grants for non-profits that fall within the mission of the Hawks Foundation Mission, which states “a commitment to physical fitness and recreation.” Applications generally accepted during the spring.

·   Atlanta Thrashers Foundation- Grants for non-profits that are “improving the academic success and health of Georgia’s children.” Applications are generally accepted late winter/early spring.

·   GoGirlGo! Atlanta- Grants for organizations that deliver sport or physical activity with a preference given to organizations working consistently with girls.

Here are some of the national grant making organizations and their deadlines:

·   Ruckus Nation- If you have new idea or product to get kids up and moving you could win up to $75,000.

·   NFL Grass Roots- This program works with community groups to create or rehabilitate playing fields in underserved neighborhoods.

·   Nestle Pure Life- Drink Nestle Pure Life products, collect the labels and send them in to redeem them for sports gear or transportation for fun field trips.

·   Finish Line Youth Foundation- Focuses funding for organizations that participate in youth athletic programs or camps. Have a grant cycle so check their website for dates.

·   General Mills Foundation- Awards grants to community-based organizations that have creative ways to help youth adopt a balanced diet and physically active lifestyle.

·   Nike- For programs that promote physical activity and get kids involved in the teamwork of sports. See their website for deadlines.

·   USTA Tennis & Education Foundation- Awards grants for organizations that support tennis and education. See their website for deadlines.

·   Hamburger Helper Hometown Helper- Searching for organizations that are raising funds to help the community. Will fund up to $15,000 for projects. See their website for deadlines.

·   Saucony Run for Good Foundation-For programs that increase participation in running to positively impact the live of participants. See their website for deadlines.
